Tarot Cards
The word ‘tarot’ in the phrase Tarot Cards originates from Italian term “tarocchi”. There is another theory that relates the term “tarot” with the Taro River that is located in the northern part of Italy. Some Arabian writers are of opinion that believes the word ‘tarot’ comes from the Arabic word that means “pathways”.
Playing with Tarot cards got first registered in History in Europe during the later 14th century. It probably came from Mamluk Egypt as they had similar suits like that of Tarot suits of Staves, Swords, Coins and Cups. They are also knows as pentacles and disks. These tarot cards are still commonly used within traditional Tarot cards decks of Spanish, Italian and Portuguese origin.
The primary known kinds of Tarot cards were first created between the times of year 1430 and 1450 in Ferrara, Milan and Bologna that lies in northern part of Italy. These new kinds of tarot card decks were primarily known as ‘triumph cards’. The additional tarot cards were later got to be known more popularly as ‘trump cards’ in common English language.
The usage for Tarot Cards as in Divination has its evidences in a book titled “The Oracles of Francesco”. This book tells about simple methodology of divination through the tarot cards. The tarot cards are used for the selection of random oracles that have no particular meaning within their own self. There have been enough evidences in history that project that tarot cards were used for the purpose of divination. A diary maintained by Giacomo Casanova in 1765 also gives version that his mistress, who was of Russian origin, used tarot cards for the purpose of divination.
